Biography

Raffaele Pagano is an Italian violinist and composer. After winning first prize in over 20 competitions in Italy and performing at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples and as concertmaster for several orchestras in his hometown, he moved to London to study under Hu Kun, a legendary Royal Academy of Music professor and Yehudi Menuhin’s longest pupil.

In London, he became leader of the London Arte Chamber Orchestra and began composing, earning first prize in the 2nd International Composition Competition “Premio Metastasio” in Scalea, Italy. His music reflects deep emotions, transitioning from improvisations on the violin to fully realized compositions.

Raffaele is concertmaster of the Oxford Festival Orchestra and performs regularly with the Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra. He collaborates with Giardino Strings, playing diverse styles, including Pop, Bollywood, Irish, and Persian. For five years, he has taught at Blackheath Conservatoire.

He plays a custom violin made by his first teacher’s father 24 years ago and a Cremona bow he won at the Luigi Denza International Violin Competition 13 years ago.
